Gunpowder & Friends

This July, Gunpowder Tower Bridge will launch a not-to-be-missed series of Sunday collaborative feasts, Gunpowder & Friends. Once a month over leisurely Sunday lunches, founder Harneet Baweja and chef Nirmal Save will get together with chefs from London and Paris to serve one-off collaborative menus and share their love of food with friends.

Kicking off on Sunday, 28th July, Gunpowder x ROKA will see one of London’s most renowned Japanese restaurants decamp to Tower Bridge for Sunday lunch with Harneet, Nirmal and ROKA’s executive chef Hamish Brown cooking their signature dishes side by side. Diners will get a truly unique opportunity to sample two of London’s best lamb chops together: ROKA’s legendary Lamb cutlet with Korean spices and Gunpowder’s famous Ma’s Kashmiri Lamb chop. Gunpowder x ROKA sharing menu is priced at £60 per person.

To follow, on Sunday, 18th August, Gustavo Vargas and Toumy Bouremana, head chefs of Uma Nota in Hong Kong and Paris will pair the best of Brazilian-Japanese street food with Gunpowder’s home-style contemporary Indian. Uma Nota is inspired by the long heritage of Japanese migration to Brazil and the traditional botecos of Sao Paolo, meeting places serving refreshing drinks and great street food in an easy-going atmosphere.

On Sunday, 8th September, Gunpowder x Le Grand Bain, will see Brit expat and chef/owner Edward Delling-Williams returning to London for a day to cook with Harneet and Nirmal. Parisian neo-bistro Le Grand Bain is Delling-Williams’s (Au Pasage, St. John) first restaurant, which he set up with Edouard Lax with an aim to serve best possible local produce in a casual, relaxed environment.

The last in this year’s Gunpowder & Friends series, Gabriel Pryce and Missy Flynn from Rita’s Dining will join Harneet and Nirmal on Sunday, 16th October. Currently seen dishing out New York-style subs at Bodega Rita’s in Coal Drops Yard, Gabriel and Missy’s Rita’s has, over the years, redefined how Londoners see modern American casual dining.
